وأضاف أن هذه الذكرى “تبجيل لمبادئ اللاعنف والتسامح والأخوة”، مؤكداً أنها “ستبقى وقيمها النبيلة رمزاً للبشرية وشعاع الامل للمظلومين والمضطهدين في كل مكان وزمان”.
منذ مقتل حفيد النبي محمد (ص)، الإمام الحسين (ع) ورفاقه في العاشر من شهر محرم الهجري، يعتبر هذا التاريخ لدى عدد كبير من المسلمين “يوم حداد” يتم فيه إحياء ذكرى استشهاد الحسين (ع) بإقامة مجالس العزاء وتوزيع الطعام والشراب.
وتجسد واقعة الطف التي استشهد فيها الإمام الحسين، حيث يقوم مجموعة من الاشخاص بالتدرب على إقامتها قبل حلول ذكرى عاشوراء، والتي غالبا ما تنظمها وتتبناها الهيئات والمواكب الحسينية وتخصص ساحات عامة واسعة لإقامة هذه الطقوس وسط تجمهر المئات.
