أظهرت بيانات حكومية أمس الخميس أن عدد من لقوا حتفهم جراء الانتحار وصل لمستوى غير مسبوق في الولايات المتحدة في عام 2022، إذ ارتفع وفقا للتقديرات إلى أكثر من 49 ألفا بزيادة 2.6% عن العام السابق.
ووفقا للأرقام الصادرة عن مراكز السيطرة على الأمراض والوقاية منها، فإن أكثر من نصف حالات الانتحار في الولايات المتحدة في 2022 تضمنت أسلحة نارية.
وقال وزير الصحة الأميركي هافيير بيسيرا في بيان “يعتقد تسعة من كل عشرة أميركيين أن أميركا تواجه أزمة في الصحة العقلية”.
والبيانات الجديدة المتعلقة بوفيات الانتحار التي نشرتها مراكز السيطرة على الأمراض توضح السبب”، لافتاً إلى أن كثيرا من الناس ما زالوا يعتقدون أن طلب المساعدة علامة على الضعف”.
ووصل معدل الانتحار لعام 2022 إلى 14.9 حالة وفاة لكل مئة ألف شخص، وهو ما يزيد بـ5% عن المستوى القياسي السابق الذي سُجل في 2018 وكان عند 14.2 حالة وفاة لكل مئة ألف شخص.
وذكر مركز السيطرة على الأمراض أن الوفيات الناجمة عن الانتحار ارتفعت من 48183 في 2021 إلى ما يقدر بنحو 49449 وفاة في 2022
